Texas Water Resources Institute

About Us

The Texas Water Resources Institute, an institute of Texas A&M AgriLife and member of the National Institutes for Water Resources, provides leadership to stimulate priority water resources research and educational programs for Texas AgriLife Research and Texas AgriLife Extension Service as well as throughout Texas.

TWRI thrives on collaborations and partnerships--currently managing more than 70 projects, involving some 150 faculty members from across the state with more than $20 million in funding. The Institute maintains joint projects with 14 Texas universities and two out-of-state universities; more than 40 federal, state and local governmental organizations; 20 consulting engineering firms, commodity groups and environmental organizations and numerous others.

TWRI links academic expertise with agencies and stakeholders to provide research-derived, science-based information to help answer diverse water questions and to produce communications materials to convey critical information.

Looking to the future, TWRI awards scholarships to graduate students from Texas universities through the U.S. Geological Survey water resources research grants and the W.G. Mills Scholarship Program to conduct research on priority water issues.
