Harris County Water Quality Study

In January 2008, Texas AgriLife Research and Harris County Watershed Protection Group entered into a Memorandum of Agreement for services related to water quality issues in Harris County bayous and wetlands. Researchers are developing and presenting three staff seminars on soil and nutrients, basic microbiology and innovative wastewater treatment plant designs; are studying fish as sources of E. coli bacteria in warm water streams and the influence of the Waugh Street bat colony on indicator bacteria levels in Buffalo Bayou; and are quantifying load reductions resulting from constructed wetlands at Mason Park in Houston, Texas. This is a collaborative project between Texas Water Resources Institute, Texas AgriLife Research, Texas A&M University and the University of Houston–Clear Lake, funded by Harris County.
The first seminar on basic microbiology was held January 27. Download the presentation.
The second seminar on soil and nutrients was held February 24. Download the presentation.
The third seminar on innovative wastewater treatment plant design was held March 24. Download the presentation.
